“School Pride.”

My friend Hank Stuever at the Washington Post offers an engaging review of the latest batch of DIY reality television, including NBC’s education-renovation show “School Pride.” I weighed in on this program a few months ago, and I am involved in a Slate project on innovative classroom design too—though the “School Pride” classrooms aren’t so much reimagined as redecorated.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger shows up to cheer on the renovation. And why shouldn’t he be thrilled? If the government can’t fix decrepit schools, let NBC do it!

Good place to start but more needs to be done to our nation's schools other than a little renovation

I know it doesn't fix everything but it also doesn't hurt. It was great to see the kids and the teachers coming together to fix their school.

I would like to ask Macon what he/she is doing to make a difference instead of judging. Seems like you are simplifying a huge movement.

No matter where help comes from and if it lifts spirits why can't we celebrate that?
